A 14-year-old girl in Kentwood, Michigan, safely escaped a frightening encounter while walking home from school after fighting off a man who grabbed her on a neighborhood sidewalk. Police say the teen resisted, managed to break free and ran to safety, with investigators noting that she even injured her attacker during the struggle.
The incident was captured on video, showing the man stopping his vehicle and approaching the girl before she successfully escapes. “That victim absolutely saved her own life that day, she did amazing things and fought hard and made that suspect jump back in the car and take off” said Capt. Tim Wierenga with the Kentwood Police Department
Authorities later arrested a suspect in connection with the case. He’s also suspected of being involved in another assault incident the next day where he told a stranger he was grieving over the passing of a family member and proceeded to hug her and then assault her.
He's also been identified as the person going into womens bathrooms at the grocery store and pulling himself up to look at them over the stall. The story has drawn attention to the teen’s quick thinking and determination, as she was able to fend off a much larger attacker and avoid being abducted.
