Orkin’s annual list of the worst cities in the country for mosquitoes has just come out for 2026.
The pest control company ranks the most mosquito-prone cities based on the number of mosquito treatment customers they’ve served in the last year. Los Angeles holds onto the number one spot for the fifth year in a row.
The worst city in SC is #21 nationally and it's Greenville. Columbia comes in at 46.
- The top three haven’t changed as Chicago is second, followed by New York City.
- The data shows a clear geographic change over time, as Atlanta held the top spot for six years from 2015 to 2020. Since then, L.A. has been number one.
- Midwestern cities are some of the fastest-growing on the list, like Milwaukee, which jumped 15 spots to 23, and Minneapolis, which climbed six spots to 13.
- Former mosquito hot spot Miami has dropped five spots to number 17, and Greensboro, North Carolina, also dropped five spots, landing at 50.
