Thanks to “Miss Congeniality,” we’ve all accepted that April 25th is the gold standard of weather days. In the movie, Miss Rhode Island says that’s the “perfect date” because it’s “not too hot, not too cold and all you need is a light jacket.” But the meteorologists at Weather Bug disagree.
As actual weather experts, they analyzed years of weather data across the country, focusing on two things: temperature and precipitation.
- They found the real “perfect weather day,” when you really do just need a light jacket, and it’s not April 25th.
- It’s actually October 8th, with an average temperature of 66-degrees and average precipitation of 0.0573 inches of rain, which is basically just a brief light mist.
- According to their research, April 25th doesn’t even come close, landing at number 80 for perfect weather. While April weather can be lovely, it’s also one of the rainiest months of the year, driving its score down.
- But October is the most underrated weather month, as it has the least precipitation, mild temps, lower humidity, and it’s pretty consistent. That’s why seven of the top 10 perfect weather days are in October. The worst day of the year for weather is January 25th.
