A pizzeria owner in Queens, New York, recently intervened to protect customers during a tense incident involving a man armed with a box cutter. Louie Suljovic, owner of Louie’s Pizza in Elmhurst, says the man initially demanded food and was given a slice, but later returned more aggressive and allegedly threatened a worker during the dinner rush.
With about 15 customers inside, Suljovic acted quickly, tackling the suspect before the situation could get any worse. During the struggle, the man ran into the glass storefront door, shattering it. NYPD officers responded to the scene and arrested the 34-year-old suspect, recovering the box cutter and charging him with criminal mischief and menacing.
Police remember Louie from a couple of years ago when he was stabbed multiple times saving a woman from a couple of men who were mugging her.
Customers at the popular pizzeria say “Louis is a very good man. It’s not the first time he's saved people, plus he's just nice to everyone...except the bad guys in Queens. He’s a hero to the community.”
