Boy Stunned By What He Finds On A Maryland Beach

A 10-year-old Maryland boy is showing off his rare find on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Jaxson Hinton was recently combing the beach along Calvert Cliffs when he found a four-and-a-half-inch megalodon tooth. The nearly 50-foot sharks lived in the oceans millions of years ago.

Jaxson told Fox 5 "I found a piece of vertebrae, this little piece of vertebrae right here, and my dad said, ‘That’s a good sign. Keep looking in that area.’ And then I kept looking, and I just saw the root of that".

Stephen Godfrey, the curator of paleontology at the Calvert Marine Museum, said this tooth has been carbon dated to about 18 million years ago.

Jaxson and his dad have been fossil hunting for years and have found lots of little pieces but nothing like this!
