According to a survey of 2-thousand U.S. adults, the average person eats through their candy for trick-or-treaters twice before Halloween arrives. One in four (26%) confess they’ve had to restock their supply three times or more.
- To be fair, a third are early planners who are stocked up on sweets by October 1st, which means they’re fighting the urge to indulge in a piece or two for a month.
- But 55% admit they put off buying candy until the last minute and 43% are also dashing out to pick up finishing touches for costumes in the days ahead of the holiday.
- Half (51%) of those who decorate for Halloween insist they have the best-looking house in the neighborhood.
- Nearly two thirds (62%) consider themselves “Halloween people” and 43% say they go “all out” for Halloween.
- People who dress up themselves or their kids spend almost five and a half hours putting together their costume, including hair, makeup and outfits.
- Candy is what makes the holiday special, according to 42%, followed by costumes (27%), fall atmosphere (23%) and spooky vibes (21%).
- Parents also say the excitement of kids is one of the best parts of the season (23%).
- To be inclusive of trick-or-treaters with food allergies, 40% say they’re going to give out non-food goodies, like fidget toys, friendship bracelets, or small stuffed animals.
