McDonald's Prices 2014-2024

Earlier this week we were joking about McDonald’s being getting called out for not having anything for a dollar on their “dollar menu”.

According to a new study from FinanceBuzz, in the last 10 years, the prices of some McDonald’s menu items have increased by as much as 168%.

The study looks at other fast food chains as well, but it finds that Mickey D’s is the biggest offender of all because their menu prices have doubled since 2014.

  • The average price of a Quarter Pounder with cheese meal is now $11.99, more than double the $5.39 price back in 2014.
  • A McDouble sandwich cost $1.19 on average in 2014, but it’s now almost three times that at $3.19. That’s an increase of 168%
  • Medium fries were $1.59, on average 10 years ago, now the average cost is $3.79.
  • The classic Big Mac’s average price has gone up 50% in the last decade, from $3.99 to $5.99.

FinanceBuzz reports that McDonald’s has raised prices so much that their average menu prices have increased more than three times the rate of U.S. inflation. While the fast food giant has seen the biggest spike in prices, the other 12 restaurants in the study have raised prices by an average of 60% in the last decade. Popeye’s is second with an 86% increase, followed by Taco Bell at 81%, while Starbucks and Subway prices have risen 39%.
