Tommie Moy, has been a UPS driver for 35 years in Cypress Texas.He recently told some of his customers that he would be retiring. Tommie has loved his job. "I'm like a year-round Santa Claus. Unlike the mailman whose bringing you junk and bills. I got what you want. You know, you ordered something you're looking for me and I'm happy to bring it to you to make you happy,"
Residents in the Coles Crossing neighborhood have loved Tommie and wanted him to know that. Resident Austin Staats said he's gotten to know Tommy pretty good since he started working from home.
"It's just gotten to the point that when Tommy, drives up, I wanna run outside and talk to him. He's actually one of the highlights of my day". He started asking neighbors if they'd like to make a donation to thank Tommie for his years of service. "I thought maybe we could give him 500 to a thousand dollars. Then we soared past that and I thought maybe we could hit $3500 and say it's $100 for every year. We ended up collecting $8-thousand in cash and checks. Moy was overwhelmed by the gesture, expressing his gratitude and disbelief at the continued generosity of the community.
"In my wildest dream, I never could have expected this to happen, you know. God is great. I love you guys. Thank you. You didn't have to do it, but thank you,"
