A 19‑year‑old pilot, Niko Bray, safely landed a powerless single‑engine plane on a busy Florida road after the aircraft lost power just moments after takeoff. Flying only a few hundred feet above the ground with a passenger onboard, Bray quickly realized he needed to make an emergency landing and searched for a safe route.
Spotting a wider roadway with moving traffic, he aimed for it. A nearby truck driver noticed the descending plane, slowed down, and helped block traffic, clearing a path. Bray guided the aircraft onto the road around 2:30 p.m., touching down without injuries.
Multiple drivers called 911 after witnessing the landing, and emergency crews responded once the plane was safely on the ground. Bray later reunited with his mother, thanking her for supporting his dream of becoming a pilot.
