Porch Pirate Stopped With Compassion, Not Anger

Bernadette Williams, a longtime South Philadelphia resident, stepped in when she saw a woman trying to steal a neighbor’s package. Instead of reacting with anger, Williams chose compassion.

Doorbell footage shows her calmly asking the woman to put the package down and even offering her the only money she had—seven dollars—to help de‑escalate the moment.
