7/11 Making Major Changes

7-Eleven is making a major shift by closing hundreds of underperforming stores while transforming the rest into bigger, food-focused destinations with more meals and upgraded offerings. The company plans to shut down 645 locations during its 2026 fiscal year but is also opening new, larger stores designed to compete with chains like Wawa and Sheetz. The revamped locations will lean heavily into prepared foods, drinks and even international-inspired menu items, moving beyond the typical convenience store vibe. The shake-up is less about shrinking and more about reinventing the brand into a hybrid of convenience store, restaurant and grocery spot.
