Nashville Takes Direct Hit From A Tornado

The National Weather Service is confirming a deadly tornado hit Nashville overnight and another an hour east in Putnam County..

The Metro Nashville Police Department says at least two people have been killed. Nearly 45,000 Electric Service customers are without power. Property damage has been reported to Metro emergency's North Nashville, Madison and Midtown precincts with 40 buildings collapsing during the twister. There are 3 more dead in Putnam County.

Emergency shelters are now open around the metro to take in those affected. Social media users have been sharing images of damage online. Many users report the East Nashville Germantown area was devastated. Also in the storm’s path was Mt. Juliet and other Middle Tennessee towns.
