Wedding Breaks Out In Mount Pleasant SC Starbucks

A South Carolina Lowcountry couple planned to elope December 13th on a beach at Isle of Palms, but cold wind and heavy rains forced them to change plans. When their hotel couldn’t accommodate their last minute wedding, a friend suggested they tie the knot at a Starbucks, since they first met at one while working as baristas.

Ben Payne, manager at the Coleman Blvd Mount Pleasant location, was happy to help. A customer, Melissa Binger, editor of Charleston Weddings magazine, happened to be working at that Starbucks and overheard the conversation and asked what she could do. She got her friend who is an event planner from Ooh Events who brought over an aisle runner and macrame wall hanging. Staffers moved furniture, cleaned the floors, took down holiday decorations. One of the baristas even went home to get her cello so they’d have music.

In the end, it all came together and the couple was delighted with their nuptials. As the bride Kate Mang said “These people had never met us and they just drove in to help salvage our wedding day. It truly meant the world to us.”

I see other couples have begun choosing Starbucks as their venue as well. Here's a video of a couple in England.
