The multigenerational home is trending at a surprising high. A survey finds home buyers are requesting "mother-in-law suites," "granny flats," and "guest houses" more than ever, as multi-generational living becomes more popular. Realtor-dot-com says homes set up for the trend spike in price when listed. Family members are pooling their funds to get the benefits of home ownership, including equity and tax breaks. Others say it's to have family members close by, something you can't put a price on. About four million American households now span three or more generations under the same roof.
