During a recent interview with a British news outlet iPaper, actor Kunal Nayyar, best known for playing Rajesh Koothrappali on The “Big Bang Theory,” shared his unique hobby.
Along with his wife, Neha Kapur, he scrolls the internet for people in need. He funds university scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, supports animal charities and his favorite paying off medical debts.
When he was on The Big Bang Theory his final 2 seasons he was paid a million per show! Money, has given me greater freedom and the greatest gift is the ability to give back, to change people’s lives.”
He also described most nights before bed what I really love to do is go on GoFundMe and just pay random families’ medical bills. That’s my masked vigilante thing!”
When he moved to America he started as a janitor. "I literally went from scrubbing toilets to a multi millionaire, so I'm familiar with the struggles of the poor, middle class and wealthy. To those who say money is a burden, I'd say you don't understand that it's a blessing that can be used to help others".
He also points out that if you're expecting politicians to make the world better, you don't understand politics. "People are not happy, because we are all expecting someone else to be kind. We are expecting a president or a politician, some leader, to come and bring us world peace or improve our lives. We make our own lives better and one of the best ways to bring yourself joy is to help someone else in need."
