NHTSA Issues Do Not Drive Warning For 67 Million U.S. Vehicles. Check Yours

Millions of vehicles with Takata air bags are being hit with a "Do Not Drive" warning by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration following a recall. Now Stellantis is issuing its own “do not drive” recalls on over 225-thousand vehicles. The initial NHTSA warning was issued for certain Acura, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Infiniti, Mazda, Nissan, Pontiac, and Toyota vehicles. According to NHTSA, test data on the defective Takata air bag inflators in these vehicles show a far higher risk of ruptures during air bag deployment than for other recalled Takata air bags. The recalls began in 2008, eventually involving 17 car companies, and about 67 million cars. To check your vehicle, enter the vehicle identification number, or VIN, at the NHTSA recall website.
