In Romulus MI their Middle School secretary Maria Scott kept her cool according to WXYZ-TV. Maria welcomed a dad to the school who said he wanted to see his son. She had seen 44 year old Shawntez Gregory at the school before. He had the proper ID. He seemed calm, but "something in my spirit said this man is not right". She asked some extra questions which irritated the man and he began sweating. He then yelled you're going to give me my GD son". That's when Maria placed the school on lockdown while calling police. Thankfully she was protected behind bullet proof glass as the man then pulled out a gun. He ended up firing 7 total rounds both in and out of the building but was taken into custody without any problems. Shawntez was in the middle of a very contentious divorce and the theory is he was looking to make a run with his son outside the state and try to file for divorce there. His first appearance in front of a Judge also made headlines as he swore at the Judge 14 times, put his fingers in his ears when the Judge spoke and told him to get a real job.
Maria says "It didn't really sink in with me and my boys until that next morning. When we're all sitting, they took the day off school, I took it off work, and it was like, Mom, you're here"!
