Which Jobs Can't Be Replaced By A.I.?

A new Reddit post asks, “Which jobs are 100% safe from AI?” These are some jobs that people pretty confidently believe AI won’t be taking over anytime soon:

  • "Undertakers. The only things guaranteed in life are death and taxes. AI can do taxes."
  • "Politicians. They will never give up their jobs to AI."
  • "Farrier. I doubt clankers will ever be changing horseshoes."
  • "I'm a hairdresser, and I don't expect to be replaced by AI anytime soon. That said, it does make our lives a little more frustrating, considering the number of people who bring us AI-generated images of hairstyles that are physically impossible."
  • "I've got 4-6 years left as a kindergarten teacher until I retire. I'm pretty sure my job is safe given that timeframe."
  • "I'd like to see AI wax booties as well as I do."
  • "Theatre is dying but not dead. There will always be a subset of humans that want to see other humans perform difficult and engaging things live instead of generated avatars on a screen."
  • "Anything where rich folks still want someone human to interact with."
  • "Emergency services."
  • "Read this somewhere, but 'sperm donor.'"
  • "Massage therapists."
  • "Software engineers stepping in to fix when computer systems break due to some moron trying to replace engineers with AI."
  • "Nurses, midwives/doula/OBGYN nurses (or whoever else is with you during labor), preschool teachers."
  • "Therapy fields. No way can they perform the duties of occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathologist, etc."
  • "Priests. AI can bless your prompt, but holy water still requires human delivery."
