After Nearly 3 Years In Foster Care Boy Adopted For Christmas

WBIR-TV reports from Chattanooga TN that a boy who is now named Khaza David Koon was given that last name just before Christmas after spending 974 days in foster care.  Anna and Brenden Koon, began fostering children nearly five years ago through the Chambliss Center for Children, offering short-term care while families worked toward reunification. When Khaza arrived in their home in April of last year, they understood that reunification was still the goal, but over time it became obvious that neither of Khaza's parents would not be in a position to raise him.

The state then asked whether they would be willing to adopt him and make him a permanent member of their family. They enthusiastically agreed. The adoption closed a long chapter of uncertainty and opened a new one for Khaza who told the Judge that he loves his new mom and dad.

His new grandmother posted some pics of the happy day along with these words. From the very beginning, your mommy and daddy have loved you boldly and unconditionally, modeling Christlike obedience and complete surrender every step of the way. You are surrounded by an army who would storm the gates for you. Through this journey—and because of the story the Lord has written for you and for all of us—we have come to better understand what it truly means to be adopted into His family.
