WWII Nurse Celebrates 105th Birthday

A British woman, who served in World War II intercepting Nazi messages for the Bletchley Park codebreaking operation, recently celebrated her milestone birthday. Dorothy Smith was honored by her community with 105 cards and received a special birthday card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

During the war, Mrs Smith passed on key information to codebreakers at Bletchley Park. Her son Jeff says even all of these years later his mom is still reluctant to speak about her work due to the secrecy surrounding it.

Her grandson, Andy Smith, says that her fondness for driving fast earned her the nickname "rally driver gran". "We thought we were going to lose her during COVID but after a week down she was back on her feet"!

Dorothy says her key to longevity is her love of baking. Andy adds "You can't really drive after one of her sherry trifles, she puts in too much booze."
