Ranking How Healthy Halloween Candy Is

With Halloween right around the corner, health-conscious adults might be wondering how to handle the inevitable flood of candy that comes with the season.

What’s the healthiest Halloween candy?

Peanut M&Ms take the crown, thanks to their main ingredients: peanuts and chocolate.

Following closely are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers.

Notice a pattern? If you’re not into chocolate and peanuts, Smarties are a smart choice (pun intended).

If you just want the sugary treats go for Smarties. One serving of Smarties contains just 25 calories and 6 grams of sugar. By comparison, one serving of Sour Patch Kids contains 110 calories and 24 grams of sugar.

For a healthier Halloween overall, experts suggest having a game plan before the trick-or-treating begins is the best way to prepare. Britt recommends letting your kids “go crazy” on Halloween night and imposing limits in the days that follow – maybe one or two pieces per day.
