Community Shows Up For Vets Funeral To Support Her Family

Navy Medic Pamela Middlebrook recently lost her battle with bladder cancer. She joined the military in the early 70's to serve in Vietnam. She dedicated 16 years total in service to our country. Most of it at Luke AFB in AZ. She decided AZ was where she would live out the rest of her life.

As life went on Pamela's family all passed before her except her daughter Brittany Rumery. When it came time for Brittany to plan her mom's funeral she was worried that other than 3 friends and her 2 kids there would be no one there to send her mother off. She posted on social media about her mother and her funeral coming up in 2 days at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

She was crying on the morning of her mothers funeral and yet some of those tears were tears of joy and thanks as dozens of previous strangers showed up. Among the attendees was Bill Wooster of the Patriot Guard Riders, who ensured Middlebrook received a fitting tribute. Although he had never met her, he read a service member's poem, offered condolences, and surrounded the area with American flags. Bill told ABC-15 "Whether they had one day of active duty or 20 years, it's equally important to show our honor and respect and gratitude as a nation."

Brittany says  "It made me happy, and restored my faith in humanity, that people can come together for someone they don't even know just to honor their memory and their service and comfort their family"
