Elaine Hall and Roland Passaro, met at 13 years old. They later confirmed that they were each others first crush. The 2 went to the same junior high school in Allentown, Pennsylvania... in 1950.
They were both popular with Elaine as a cheerleader and Roland a star on the baseball team. During their school years they danced together a few times but both ended up with other partners and right after graduation Elaine got married at age 18.
She had 3 children but ultimately got divorced in 1975.
Roland played MLB till a spinal injury ended his career at age 24. He got married, moved to Miami to work as an airline pilot and had 3 sons. He became a widower in 2002.
In 2003 the 2 reconnected at their high school 50th reunion! They shared a kiss and exchanged email addresses so they could stay in touch with her in NJ and him in FL.
Eventually she moved to FL, and everyone assumed they were married when they saw them out and about. Roland asked her what she thought about the idea and she said she had always hoped he would ask. “I feel the same way as I did at 15. I still get the butterflies. I just love him so much.”
