MLB Pitching Prospect Making Big Donations To Vet Charity

A rising star with the Pittsburgh Pirates farm team the Indianapolis Indians baseball team, pitcher Paul Skenes, has pledged to donate $100 to the Gary Sinise Foundation for every strikeout he makes this season. His goal is to raise $100-thousand to support veterans and first responders. Skenes, the top pick in the 2023 MLB draft, is known for his impressive pitching skills, boasting a fastball that reaches 102 mph and a formidable slider.

The Gary Sinise Foundation, founded by actor Gary Sinise in 2011, is dedicated to assisting veterans, first responders, and their allies. Sinise's commitment to supporting these groups has inspired Skenes to contribute to the cause. The rookie pitcher hopes to make a meaningful impact by combining his passion for baseball with his desire to give back to those who have served their country.

Indianapolis Indians director of communications Cheyne Reiter expressed excitement about having Skenes on the team, given his exceptional talent and the anticipation among fans to see him in action. In addition to the financial impact of his donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation, Skenes will also help shed light on the importance of supporting veterans and first responders, proving the positive impact he’ll be able to make beyond the field.

Paul pitched in his first game Saturday and struck out 5. He only faced 6.
