How Does Columbia Measure Up To Most Expensive US Cities In Real Estate

A new report on CNBC reveals which neighborhoods in the U.S. are the most expensive.

  • Analysts with American Home Shield used the Neighborhood Search database from online real estate portal Homes.com to find the average price per square foot for more than 22-thousand neighborhoods across the country.
  • The South of Market neighborhood in downtown San Francisco is the most expensive in the U.S. at $5,415 per square foot. That’s about 2,000% higher than the national average of $244.
  • Most of the priciest neighborhoods to buy in are located in California, Florida and New York.
  • On the flip side, the country’s least expensive neighborhood is Homewood North in Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where the average property costs $29 per square foot.

  7. Stinson Beach, California: $2,988
  8. Star, Palm & Hibiscus Islands, Miami Beach, Florida: $2,861
  9. Crystal Cove, Newport Beach, California: $2,771
  10. Casa del Lago, Palm Beach, Florida: $2,754
