Braves Pitcher Gets First Win After Years As A Substitute Teacher

Atlanta Braves starter Allan Winans pitched seven shutout innings in the Braves' 21-3 rout of the Mets Saturday afternoon in New York. It was the 28-year-old righthander's first Major League win in just his second big league appearance. Pretty good for a substitute teacher. That's how Winans has been supplementing his minor league salary during the offseason in his hometown of Bakersfield, California. Alan was drafted in the 7th round back in 2018 and quickly realized that his minor league salary wouldn't cover the bills so he used his degree to to become a teacher.
