Good Samaritan Saves Non Verbal Autistic Toddler

With the Carlee Russell story still fresh in our minds I'm wondering if Houston PD was hesitant to believe this 911 call.

A three-year-old nonverbal girl with autism was wandering toward a busy highway after escaping from a nearby autism center. Fortunately, a good Samaritan on her way home from work who saw the girl and stopped to help her.

The child’s mother says her daughter had been in the care of a local center that specializes in working with autistic children. Surveillance video from the autism center shows the young girl passing by three therapists, an unattended receptionist desk, and exiting the facility all within a minute.

The autism center apologized for the incident and says a full investigation is underway. Houston police are also looking into the incident. The child’s mother says she hopes the person who allowed her daughter to be in such a dangerous situation takes responsibility for the incident and she’s grateful for the woman who stopped her daughter from going on the busy roadway. "So thankful she stayed with my child, stayed until the police were there,” the mom says, “She was truly an angel sent from heaven.”
