Ozempic Users Are Having Hysterical Dreams About Celebs

The latest buzzy weight-loss trend is Ozempic and while some people taking it rave about its results, other users are reporting an unexpected side effect. Some folks taking the medication, which was designed for people with Type 2 diabetes, say they’re having weird dreams about famous people while on it.

It’s not just Ozempic, people have also reported having bizarre dreams while taking Wegovy, another weight-loss drug. Those experiencing the odd dreams are sharing them on social media and there’s even a TikTok account called @ozempicdreams devoted to the star-studded dreams.

• “Had my first crazy Ozempic dream, the Kardashian/Jenners were my family and dinosaurs started invading and I saved us all with essential oils,” one person describes on TikTok.
• Others have had dreams about joining the cast of “The Golden Girls,” getting ready to rob a museum with JLo and Ben Affleck, and being pregnant with The Rock’s baby.
• Someone on Facebook also reportedly dreamed about being at a cattle auction with Matthew McConaughey and yelling at him when he tried to climb on her pet llama.
• Another Facebook user also reportedly had a dream that Jonah Hill was waiting tables on a cruise ship and sharing his plans to leave his acting career behind and start singing in a cabaret under the name “Sundaze.”
• “Spent the night at Home Depot ordering new cabinets and appliances for my kitchen,” a TikTok user shares. “My salesman, Clint Eastwood, helped me pick out everything I would need…cause apparently Clint Eastwood now works at Home Depot.”

According to a spokesperson for Novo Nordisk, which makes Ozempic and Wegovy, “abnormal dreams” were reported by those taking the meds in 2022, but they’re not listed as a side effect for either medication because they weren't commonly reported while the drug was being developed.

• Dr. Caroline Apovian, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, says the Ozempic dreams could be related to the production of a gut hormone with receptors in the brain.
• According to Deirdre Leigh Barrett, a dream researcher at Harvard Medical School, the drugs could just be helping people remember dreams they otherwise would have forgotten.
