Haribo Candy Gives An Unsweet Reward

Anouar G tells the German newspaper Bild that he's a bit underwhelmed by Haribo candy's "reward". 38 year old Anouar saw a piece of paper blowing around on a train platform. He was just going to be a good citizen and catch the rubbish and throw it away. When he looked at what he had caught it was a check. The check was for €4,631,538.80, or about $4.7 million dollars!

The check was made out to Haribo from Rewe, a German supermarket.

So being a good citizen he spent half a day trying to get connected with someone in management at Haribo to explain he was holding millions of their dollars. The rep thanked him and asked if he waould destroy the check and send proof to them.

He mailed them the remains of the destroyed check. A week later he received a box with 6 bags of assorted gummi bears. When Bild asked them about their cheap reward Haribo said "that's our standard package that we send as a thank you. Since it was a named check, nobody but our company could have redeemed it”.
