Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was heading to his first University of Tennessee game in Knoxville Saturday with his daughter Cha'iel “Moca” Johnson. The six-time NFL Pro Bowler stopped into IHOP for pancakes. When the $14 bill arrived Chad decided to tip $1000!
Ochocinco tweeted a picture of a receipt from his IHOP visit. The tweet was captioned Proverbs 11:25. That scripture is A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
This isn’t the first time that Johnson has left an outsized tip on a relatively small bill. He made news in 2020 when he left a $1-thousand tip at a Cuban restaurant in Florida, that had just reopened after being shut during COVID lockdowns. And in August, it was reported that he left another $1-thousand tip for a server at a Greensboro, North Carolina, restaurant.
