Airline Employees Take Care Of Pet Fish That Wasn't Allowed To Fly

When Kira Rumfola was flying home to New York for the summer after her freshman year at University of Tampa, she found out that her pet betta fish, Theo, wouldn’t be allowed on the flight.

A Southwest customer service agent named Ismael talked Kira and her father through their options, but nothing was going to work out. So Ismael kindly offered to care for Theo until Kira returned in the fall. They exchanged contact info and Kira checked in several times over the summer. Ismael and his fiancée, Jamee, who also works for Southwest, shared pics of Theo with Kira and even bought him a new bigger fishbowl.

Kira returned to Tampa before the fall semester and met up with Ismael and Jamee to pick up Theo.

Southwest shared pics of the moment on Twitter. She brought the couple a gift card to thank them for their help. Jamee responded to the gift card with a text that read, “Let us know if you ever need anything.” Sounds like it could be an offer to watch Theo again next summer.
