Deshaun Watson had 24 masseuses accuse him of sexual misconduct last year. He was sitting out the year so no action was taken by the NFL. This year he signed a 5 year 260 million dollar fully guaranteed contract with the Cleveland Browns. The NFL wasn't happy as they feel like he needs to face some consequences for his actions. So they decided to let a retired judge, Sue Robinson, be an arbitrator.
Deshaun did settle with 20 0f the 24 accusers, before his case was heard by the arbitrator and this morning it was announced that he settled with 3 more. We don't know exactly how much money he paid to these women but there is still 1 woman who wants to go to court.
Judge Robinson just announced her decision. She finds that by settling with these women he has violated the league’s personal conduct policy and served him a six-game suspension.
The Browns are thrilled. The NFL not so much. Both sides announced before the decision was read that they would abide by whatever the judge said. However if the NFL wants to appeal they have 3 days to do so.
