The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Top Injuries

A new ValuePenguin survey finds:

  • 10% of folks say they were injured putting up their Christmas tree, down from 20% last year.
  • That could be though because 18% admit to putting up their tree drunk.
  • That number goes up to 27% for Millennials, and 20% for Gen Z.
  • Men are also twice as likely as women to say they’ve put up their three while drunk (25% vs. 13%).
  • When it comes to trees, 51% believe that artificial trees are safer inside a home than live trees (37%).
  •  As for toy dangers, a non-motorized scooter is the most dangerous causing 477,082 injuries since 2011.
  • The second-most dangerous toy is balls, followed by toy vehicles (non-riding ones).
  • Another major hazard is lights, and folks aren’t helping themselves in his area.
  • 68% of people say they leave their lights on overnight, which is a fire hazard.
  • Plus, 10% of Americas say their lights are at least seven years old, but they haven’t regularly checked the wiring.
  • And while our pets are like family, they can also be the cause some major Christmas dangers.
  • 72% of pet owners say their pets have knocked down their tree, or knocked off ornaments.
  • 49% of those people have suffered damage or an injury because of it.
