Woman Tired Of Seeing Used Facemasks On The Ground Fixes The Problem

A Fort Collins Colorado woman was disgusted by all the used masks on the ground so she decided to fix it in dramatic fashion. Stefani Shamrowicz had more than a month off from her job at a campus recreation center and decided to spend it picking up masks. She ended up picking up lots of other trash as well and started driving to new locales to clean them as well.

She drove for more than 70 hours, through 12 states from Colorado to Florida to New York and cleaned up litter all along the way. After 23 days of picking up garbage, the 24-year-old had

filled 126 bags. She says about 80% of what she found was drinking bottles, and face masks and fast food toys were common as well.

“There’s litter everywhere, so I’m just happy to be able to make a little bit of an impact everywhere I go,” Stefani says. “I’ve been to 23 national parks, so me cleaning up this litter is a huge thank you for all the joy and good times the national parks and nature in general has brought to my life.”
