Amateur nature photographer Sam Davis in Delaware snapped a photo of a heron flying overhead. What makes the photo amazing is that an eel snake was in the midst of trying to escape the stomach of the bird by chewing his way through it! Sam posted the photo on his Instagram account. Sam then gave an interview to Live Science magazine in which he describes his perspective on the situation.
“The heron didn’t seem to act much differently. It was in the water and flying around. The snake arched it's back several times attempting to free itself but it seemed to die at some point without completing his escape. I then saw several eagles and a fox following the bird near a shoreline — possibly to scavenge dinner in case either critter croaked". Sam doesn't know the fate of the bird.
