The Pepsi ad that we mocked for being tone-deaf and simply "dumb" has been pulled. While Kendall has stayed quiet, Pepsi did release a statement and at first, they stuck by the ad, calling it "an important message to convey."
Eventually, though, the company pulled the commercial. “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark and we apologize," a statement says. "We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further roll-out. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
This was just hours after a Portland man was nearly shot by security after he began a heated debate with the Mayor and then approached him with his hand in his pocket. What some believed was a gun turned out to be a can of Pepsi. The man was imitating what he had seen work so well in the Pepsi commercial when confronting police.
