The Highwomen Debut Single, 'Redesigning Women' Ahead Of New Album

The Highwomen's new single, "Redesigning Women," is here!

The all-female supergroup comprised of Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby shared the news on Twitter saying,

"Our first single is "RedesigningWomen is out NOW," inserting the fist bump emoji and tagging the special news that an album will soon follow on 9/6.

Brandi Carlile and Amanda Shires, leaked the news to CMT during the 2019 ACM Awards in Las Vegas.

“I just get so excited!” Shires told CMT. “Some amazing music for sure. And also, it’s a movement of inclusion.

Carlile later revealed to media that the group was founded on the concept of women inspiring women. “We all had Deana Carter, and Trisha Yearwood, and Tanya Tucker, and Pam Tillis, and Kathy Mattea. And we had the greats, we had Loretta Lynn, and Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, Kitty Wells, too. But we recognized that we're in a time right now where our daughters don't have the same country music heroes that we had. Two women out of the Top 20 is not enough. Zero women on the Top 20 is not enough for country radio. We wanted to get together with compassion, and love, and tackle the problem of country music not being an amplifier for women, and we intend to do that."

The Highwomen were first heard singing a cover of Kitty Well’s “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels” during Nashville’s Loretta Lynn birthday celebration on April 1st.

Catch the world video premiere of “Redesigning Women” available on CMT today (7/19).
