Canal surfing may be the next "thing"...but I wouldn't. Here's why. It's not legal. A couple of tourists were hit with big fines after surfing Venice's Grand Canal. The canal is a recognized World Heritage site, and swimming and surfing have been banned.
The two were captured after a video of the surfers was posted on social media. Their boards were confiscated. They will be fined $1,500 each.
