Diane Bennett of Greenfield, New York, was surprised to learn that an anonymous Walmart employee paid for two cakes she ordered to celebrate her final day of chemotherapy and to thank staff at her oncology clinic.
Bennett, who’s undergoing treatment for stage 3 breast cancer, returned to the store to confirm the charge and later met and hugged the employee, who declined to be publicly identified.
As she prepares for surgery and radiation, Bennett said the unexpected act of kindness deeply moved her and inspired her to pay it forward.
