Virginia Boy Creates Emergency Kits to Help Autistic Children in Crisis

A nine‑year‑old Virginia boy with autism created clear emergency backpacks to help first responders support autistic children during stressful encounters.

After hearing about a missing autistic child his police‑officer father helped reunite with family, Ledger Greyson Mann used $100 of his own savings to assemble the first five “LGM Bags.”

Each kit includes sensory tools, communication aids, and comfort items such as headphones, fidget toys, and flash cards. With help from local veterans’ and police organizations, 61 kits have already been distributed, with plans to expand them to emergency services and schools across Virginia.
