An 82‑year‑old woman, Karen Joyce Davis, became lost in dense forest while hiking with her dog, Cami. After she was reported missing, search teams located her within about 90 minutes.
Cami stayed by her side in freezing temperatures, kept her warm, and barked loudly to guide rescuers—something the dog rarely does. Davis was treated for hypothermia and taken to a hospital. Officials say both the coordinated search and the dog’s loyalty were key to her safe recovery.
