Homeless Man Becomes Hero!

A homeless man who lives in the woods near Dickinson Bayou in Galveston County TX says he was shook from a sleep when he heard a crash Thursday night about 9:30. What he had heard was a minivan driven by a mom with her baby inside had hit a curb which then shot her into the and through the guard rails and into the water. He got up to look and saw the minivan floating but taking on water. He grabbed his kayak and made his way out to the vehicle to help. The Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department says another motorist called 911 to report the accident and by the time they arrived the man had pulled the baby and mom out of their sinking vehicle. Police say the driver wasn't impaired in anyway and after a quick checkup both baby and mother are fine.

The homeless man told news crews he didn't want recognition or any help. "I'm fine where I'm at and I'm not a hero because everyone would help save a baby and mom if they could. I was never in any jeopardy. A hero would put themselves in harms way to help I just extended my hand".
