Cold weather, permit problems, and health challenges had made recent months especially hard for Smiley’s Spuds and Corn, a food truck in Plymouth, Michigan. Smiley Rammaha and his wife, Iman, run the truck, and after reopening earlier this year, some days they were only getting a single customer.
From across the country, Smiley’s daughter Sahar decided to help. Now living in California and working as an emergency room doctor, she posted a short video online asking people back home to support her father’s business. The response was immediate, with the truck jumping from one customer a day to more than one hundred.
The rush of support was so strong that the truck had to close early because they ran out of food. Sahar was moved by how far people were willing to travel to help, and her parents say they’re deeply grateful and feel “unbelievably happy.”
