TSA ID Fee Goes Into Effect Next Month

Travelers without a Real ID will have to pay a $45 fee to go through TSA checkpoints starting next year. The TSA announced yesterday the new fee will go into effect February 1st. Travelers with a passport or other acceptable form of ID will not have to pay the fee. An $18 fee had originally been proposed last month. To pay the fee, travelers will need to visit TSA-dot-gov to verify their identity before they head to the airport. They will then receive an email confirmation to present at the TSA checkpoint.
