Children Save Their Neighbor's Life

Blackford County, Indiana, is where Nina Osgood, has helped care for her neighbors five kids while their mother works long hours. Last Sunday morning the kids noticed flames coming from Osgood’s window and rushed to save her.

Brenna Fields, age nine, was first to see the smoke and called over her 11-year-old brother, Reese Fields, and their eight-year-old cousin, Grant Cosner. The children entered Osgood’s home through the back door and woke her, helping her get outside. Reese recalls heavy smoke filling the home as they escaped.

Osgood says she was told that another 15 minutes could have been fatal and called the kids “heroes.” With help from the family and the community, she has since been able to find a new home, and the children are being hailed as heroes for their lifesaving effort.
