Teen Does Something Incredible To Help Folks Losing Snap Benefits

.When Jake Prokopets was 16 he invested his life savings according to his Facebook page into a hot dog stand called Jake’s Dogs. He serves the small town of Old Lyme CT. Jake's now a 17 year old high school senior who saw people who were relying on SNAP starting to struggle. According to Fox 61 Jake told them; “I know these families are on SNAP, and I can see the need; they’re trying, but sometimes they just can’t provide for themselves. So I just want to help them stabilize and get back on their feet while I can.”

His plan was pretty simple. "I bought 1000 hot dogs to give away. I had to go through a couple of stores and kind of sell them out of hot dogs. I brought them out here, cooked 20 at a time, stored them, and whenever someone from SNAP asks, I had it prepped and ready to give them".

Asked why he is doing it? "It makes me feel good to help people. More people should try it.”
