17 Year Old Finds Thousands And Then Gets A Car

Last week, 17-year-old Josh Pache from Australia’s Gold Coast found $35-hundred in cash outside a gas station and immediately turned it in. The money belonged to Daniel McKellar, the owner of Coastal Demolitions, who’d received it from a scrap metal yard before accidentally dropping it while stopping for coffee. When he realized his money was missing and called the gas station, he learned it had already been handed in.

McKellar shared CCTV footage to try to identify and thank the person who returned the money, and the post quickly spread online. The next day, Josh's mother saw the video and recognized her son, but she notes that he didn’t mention finding any money to her. She says she taught him that good deeds can lead to good outcomes.

McKellar says he was impressed by Josh’s quick choice to return the money, calling it remarkable. When they met, he rewarded the teen with $1-thousand and offered him a job with his company after he finishes school. McKellar also set up a crowdfund to help him buy a car, which has raised more than $10-thousand.
