Tuesday morning at 6:40 the Johnson family called 911 to report that their 23 month old son Jaylen Johnson was missing from his family’s home in Tampa. Fox 13 reports that 200 members of its agency, including K-9s, drone operators, and an aviation unit, searched the area around the apartment complex where the family lives.
Investigators quickly discovered that the family’s red-nosed pit bull was missing as well. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a missing child alert Tuesday morning and within minutes a nearby resident called to say they had found Jaylen with the dog guarding him. Jaylen's mom, Nicole said we have no idea how he got out of the apartment but changing all the locks so he can’t open them.”
"The pit bull goes side by side with young Jaylen, so I like to think that the pit bull was keeping watch over young Jaylen," Maurer explained. "We recovered both Jaylen and the pit bull."
