KBZK TV reports that 24 year old Markus Klewin, a recent graduate of Montana State University, pulled into a convenience store in Bozeman, Montana, last Monday morning about 8:30. As he was walking back out he says "I see this car kind of going around in circles backwards. At first, I just thought it was somebody doing donuts in the parking lot to be fun or whatever”
After looking at it for a minute he realized there was no one behind the wheel. "I just kind of freaked out. The door was open so I was able to just run and time my jump to dive into it. Kind of messed up my ankle trying that stunt but it was well worth it to make sure it didn't cause a serious accident.
Apparently, the driver had put it in reverse to leave the store suffered a seizure and fell out.
After Markus stopped the vehicle he ran back inside on his bad ankle to call 911 and get help for the driver lying in the middle of the parking lot. . Police and EMS arrived moments later and provided medical care for the driver, who is now recovering. Markus says he “kind of blacked out during the whole thing,” later calling footage of the incident “crazy” to watch.
Bozeman Police Lieutenant Quinn Ellingson praised Markus for acting without hesitation, and a representative from Town Pump is calling his actions “heroic.” “I just like to thank God for putting me in that position in the first place, just being there in the right place, right time. I think of myself as a guy who’s just trying to do the right thing. But it feels good, though".
