LSU Student Creates Game That Is Bringing Joy To Thousands In Baton Rouge

Dylan Garcia, a marketing student at Louisiana State University, has gone viral in Baton Rouge. He had $100 and considered doing what he usually did which was go out for food and drinks with friends but thought it would be more fun to play a game. "What if I created a scavenger hunt"? He had seen them done in his hometown of St. Louis where had a lot of fun competing. It might be as much fun to create a hunt.

4 weeks ago Dylan launched an Instagram account called @CashStashBR where he would announce the hunt. His first was simply a $20 which he posted a picture of where he was leaving it on the LSU campus. He just asked that you post a picture if you got it and tag the account. That contest lasted just a few minutes. But it got a lot of LSU students talking. He did 4 more contests that day and his IG account quickly grew to 5000 people. Then local businesses contacted him about sponsoring future hunts.

He's doing them almost daily now usually with a prize of minimum $100 and the account has about 20,000 people following it looking for clues. Dylan has now announced he is taking his hunts on the road as well. Tomorrow he'll have a hunt in New Orleans and Thursday in Lake Charles.

Dylan tells WBRZ-TV that the best part is seeing people’s excitement and feeling like he’s doing something positive for the community. "It's way better than banging beers with my boys".
